As one of the largest states in America, Idaho is also one of the least populated in terms of people per square mile. That means there is plenty to explore with little interruption, so travelers can observe the terrain and wildlife as it was meant to be, wild and untamed. Due to its diverse terrain and climate, outdoorsmen, adventurists, families, and those simply looking for somewhere to relax and get away from it all, will all fall in love with this great state. Hikers can trek along the Big Springs Nature Trail while keeping their eyes peeled, ears open, and cameras ready for wildlife such as bald eagles, osprey, deer, moose and others thrive in their natural habitats. Several ranches throughout the state, like the Bar H Bar Ranch, are working vacation ranches, many of which offer cattle drives, wagon rides, horseback riding, and hunting and snowmobiling packages along with other fun-filled activities. And the state has thousands of square miles dedicated to parks, wildlife preserves, conservation areas, and refuges. Skiers can also take to the hills and stay in one of the state’s many lodges or get their fill of white powder in the backcountry or Craters of the Moon Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Trail. Extreme sports include whitewater rafting and kayaking on the Snake River, dog sledding, and hang gliding. Families will enjoy the huge Silver Springs Theme Park, Roaring Springs, Raptor Reef, and Wild Water water parks, sleigh rides through beautiful pristine snow, and ice skating on frozen lakes.
